Kingyo is one of my favourite Izakaya in Vancouver. I have been here several times, and every single visit was very satisfying and impressive.
SOCKEYE SALMON SASHIMI ($9.80) was fresh in texture and flavour.

ASSORTED SASHIMI, SALMON FLAKE AND IKURA BOWL ($14.80) had fresh sockeye salmon, hamachi, tuna and amaebi sashimi on top of rice. This is one of my regular items I order when I come to Kingyo for lunch.
SEARED SCALLOP CARPACCIO ($8.80) was so tasty! I was really amazed at how they could sear scallops so perfectly. There were many different flavours and textures at work with the combination of spinach, radish sprouts, carrot strings, wolfberries, tobiko, combined with a soy-based dressing and plum seaweed paste. It was just perfect.
UNAGI ROLL (DAILY SPECIAL) was a simple roll in terms of ingredients they used, yet it tasted amazing and had a full of flavours. A light dashi came with together on the side for dipping.
STONE-GRILLED BEEF TONGUE ($9.20) comes with a few pieces of beef tongue and red yuju pepper sauce with green onions. You squeeze a piece of lemon over beef tongue and start grilling on a hot stone. I love its sizzling sound so much! It is a fun dish.
OUR FAMOUS INVINCIBLE & UNDEFETED TANTAN NOODLE ($9.80) said itself why it was called "famous invincible and undefeated." Pork bone and shrimp broth was very rich in flavour. Sesame, miso and cashew enhanced the flavour even more. The noodle was topped with ground pork, chilli marinated Chinese chives and black sesame. Try Kingyo's tantan noodle if you want something filling and tasty.
