EMPIRE SEAFOOFD RESTAURANT: GOOD DIM SUM BUT TERRIBLE SERVICE

Empire Seafood Restaurant was used to be one of my favourite dim sum spots in Richmond which is located on No.3 Road next to London Drugs. In the past 3 months I came here almost every other week. However, a recent visit was very disappointing. Food was not good, and service was even worse.
SMOKED SALMON WITH JELLY FISH ($8.95) was kind of interesting. Jelly fish was seasoned with sesame oils and a bit of salt. I never imagined eating jelly fish with smoked salmon, but I thought it was a pretty good combination.
We've finally tried their DEEP FRIED STUFFED CHICKEN WINGS ($8.49) which is one of their popular item. Every time we came here, we wanted to try but it was always sold out. Yet, I thought it was nothing special other than the idea of stuffing chicken wings with fried rice.
PAN FRIED RICE NOODLE WITH BEEF ($13.80) was just average. There is nothing especially worth mentioning.
PAN FRIED TIGER PRAWN AND EGGPLANT ($8.95) was really tasty. Fatty, juicy tiger prawns, fresh eggplants, minced pork with nice distinctive sweet oyster soy-based sauce gave it a great taste and texture.
DEEP FRIED CRAB CLAWS STUFFED WITH SHRIMP TASTE was pretty good too. It was crispy outside and filled with well-seasoned shrimp paste and meaty crab.
PRESERVED DUCK EGG AND PORK CONGEE WITH DRIED OYSTER ($5.75) had a decent amount of preserved duck eggs and was just salty enough. It was well-priced for the huge amount of congee we got. We both had 2 bowls each and still took home leftovers.
BRIASED BEEF TRIPE AND COMB ($4.95) AND STEAMED SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($4.95) are dishes that J always orders at every other dim sum restaurants we go. I liked both of them.
DEEP FRIED GLUTINOUS RICE BALL WITH MIXED MEAT is a must!

STEAMED RICE ROLLS WITH PRAWN ($5.45)

I tried their LYCHEE PUDDING ($3.95) for the first time. I don't like any jelly-like desserts but this one was pretty good. It was fragrant and refreshing.
Clockwise: BAKED DURIAN PASTRY($5.75), STEAMED BBQ PORK BUNS ($4.45), STEAMED RICE ROLLS WITH PORK ($5.45)BEAN CURD WRAP IN OYSTER SAUCE,   SPARE RIBS WITH SQUASH ($4.45)
My ultimate favourites: STEAMED PORK DUMPLING ($4.75) and DEEP FRIED GLUTINOUS RICE BALL WITH MIXED MEAT! YUMMM
