IMPERIAL COURT BEIJING CUISINE 王府井京川粵名菜: AMAZING PEKING DUCK AND BRAISED PORK BELLY

Imperial Court Beijing Cuisine is the restaurant J and I come to eat Peking Duck. So far, we tried more than 5 times and every time was really satisfying. I was a bit surprised when I saw such a low rating of this restaurant on Urbanspoon. It deserves at least 80% in my opinion.
PECKING DUCK SKIN came with shrimp chips, crepes, sliced green onions and hoisin sauce. There was a bit of fat attached to the skin which made the skin soft and crisp at the same time. There was a lot of flavours and it tasted even better when wrapped in crepes. Rather than getting a full Pecking Duck course, we like to have a small portion of duck skin so that we can try other dishes. In this sense, Imperial is a good place to go, because many other Chinese restaurants do not serve the Skin separately from the main Pecking Duck course menu. However, it is still a bit pricey for such a small amount of duck skins. I feel this dish is more like an appetizer to me.
YUM!

BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS had lots of meat attached which came off the bones very easily. It was really flavourful and generous in portion too!
COD AND TOFU HOT POT consisted of a fair amount of cod, tofu, mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The cod and tofu were completely soaked in rich flavour soup. I liked it.
My favourite BRAISED PORK BELLY came with four pieces of steamed Chinese buns. It was interesting to eat pork belly with buns because my understanding of braised pork belly dish is something I would eat with rice (Think about Kakuni!) It still tasted really good together.
Look at this fatty pork belly! The soft pork belly absorbed sweet and savoury sauce perfectly. It just melts in your mouth.
We got complimentary red bean soup at the end of dinner, which tasted sweet, watery and a bit lighter than other places. Honestly it did not taste as good as their main dish.
