THOMAS HAAS: IRRESISTIBLE CAKES AND LOVELY HANDCRAFTED CHOCOLATES

Thomas Haas has two locations, one in Vancouver (on West Broadway) and another in North Vancouver (on Harbourside Drive. They are famous for their chocolates made with the fine high-quality ingredients. Every time I visited here, there was a long line-up taking me 15 minutes to get a box of macarons. But, trust me, it is worth time waiting. Yesterday, J surprised me with this amazing Thomas Haas cake for early Valentine's Day.
HAZELNUT PRALINE CAKE

Hazelnut Praline consisted of multiple layers of wafers, vanilla cake, hazelnut dacquoise (composed of hazelnut merinque and whipped cream), thin dark chocolate ganache covered by hazelnut praline (sugar candy made from hazelnuts and sugar syrup) paste.
After presentation, and feeding my camera, I removed all the chocolates and had a slice of the cake. I promise I didn't finish in one sitting.
It was amazingly delicious. It was just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet addiction. The vanilla cake was moist, dense and lightly sweet and had a rich hazelnut flavour. The wafers were very crispy, and every layer had a unique, distinctive texture.
J also got me a box of Linzer Cookies and Truffle Hearts. Linzer cookies were consisted of almond flavoured cookies, sandwiched them together with a layer of mouth-watering raspberry jam, which tasted awesome. It was buttery and soft giving burst of sour flavour.
Chocolates tasted amazing too! I started feeling guilty... and needed something spicy to counteract too much sweetness. I ended up eating lots of kimchi with egg rolls, which turned into more guilt....
 A BOX OF 6 MACARONS ($12) & PUMPKIN CRÈME BRÛLÉE ($5.90)
PUMPKIN CRÈME BRÛLÉE ($5.90)

PISTACHIO SOUR CHERRY TART ($5.90) consisted of shortbread crust, pistachio cream, sour and cognac cherries, light kirsch chantilly (a sweetened, vanilla-flavour whipped cream made with a fruit brandy), and topped with pistachio crumble.
