BASHO CAFE: CUTE JAPANESE BRUNCH CAFE

I finally got to try Basho Cafe! I've been wanting to try so bad because of 1) all the delicious-looking food pictures on Urbanspoon and my Instagram feed 2) my ultimate favourite items on their menu: pulled pork, tuna tataki and matcha. And guess what, I've got them all =D
MATCHA LATTE ($3.75) and ICED AMERICANO ($2.75)
Their matcha latte had a really rich flavour. It was not sweetened so that you can add organic sugar, sweetener etc prepared on the side of corner if you want.
MATCHA CHOCOLATE CRANBERRY OATMEAL ($1.50), MATCHA WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE ($2), HONEY LEMON BUTTER CAKE ($1.50) - We liked the matcha oatmeal cookie the best. But every item tasted really good. I liked a very subtle sweet flavour.
TUNA TATAKI WITH SALAD ($10.5) + $3 LUNCH SET
The chocolatey sweet treat you see on the top right is a must. I can't recall the name, but it has a mochi texture with a pleasant sweet chocolate flavour. Very soft and a little chewy.
Lunch set ($3) comes with a small soup, three cookies, and a cup of tea. I substituted a matcha latte for Genmaicha. The presentation was outstanding (it'd be even better if they served on wooden plates) but tuna tataki was a bit disappointing. The salad was fresh and house dressing was pretty good. But overall, it was just average :S
TERI PULLED PORK WITH RICE ($9) + $3 LUNCH SET
Pulled pork also didn't meet my expectation either. It was not as tender as I expected. Somewhat tough and dry. The pumpkin soup was decent though. Rich, creamy and nice scent too.
HOMEMADE THICK TOASTE WITH BUTTER ($3)
Almost every baked treat they had tasted really good with a pleasing sweet flavour. But I still don't get why everybody is raving about their food. It might have something to do with their cute decors, wooden platters and quitted hot pads? Nothing special in terms of food, except for their baked goods.

PROS
+ Cute interior
+ Tasty cookies and sweets
+ Courteous and super friendly service
+ Nice presentations
+ Lots of sunlight coming in, thus you get better photos to feed your Instagram :)

CONS
- Awkward location if you don't drive
- Limited food choices and seating
- Main dishes were not worth the trip
