To celebrate our TGIF J and I went to the Flying Pig in Yaletown. Since my friend works here I heard about this place a lot, and finally we made it. When we arrived there were people lining up but the wait time wasn't too bad. After a few minutes, we got seated but since after that everything was way too slow.

Complimentary Bread which came with a bowl of olive oil with a swirl of balsamic vinegar.
We got a B.C. Salmon Sampler ($9.5) as an appetizer. I was expecting having some salmon sashimi, but instead it consisted of smoked salmon, salmon croquette, salmon tartar with salmon roe on top, arugula salad, maple candied salmon and some cracker bread. Although I am not a big fan of smoked salmon, I really liked it compared to the ones I used to have in other places. The ingredients they used were all fresh and tasty, but it tasted the best when I had a little bit of each item on a cracker bread all at once.
I got a Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib ($21.50) for my entree which came with roasted bone marrow and aged white cheddar mash. The beef was cooked nicely and had a very tender texture. The mash was creamy and tasty too. I was a bit disappointed about their bone marrow though. There was less than a teaspoon of marrow when I scrapped off the bone, and there was far too much salt on it.
J got a Pan Seared Haida Gwaii Halibut ($27.75). It came with lobster bisque risotto and chive beurre blanc. He said it tasted alright but not worth our time waiting for food more than 50 mins (not the wait time before seated). I felt the halibut was a bit overcooked as it was somewhat dry on the inside.
I've been wanting to come here, the Flying Pig for so long because of all the hype about this place. The food was okay but we wouldn't return here. Somewhat overrated.

+ Friendly service
+ Smoked salmon was good
+ Ambience - personal like

- Food was on the saltier side
- One toilet in the uni-sex washroom. Worst experience ever. People started lining up outside of the washroom.
- S-l-o-w service. Way too slow.
